Sr. Quality Engineer (NJ) - Japanese Bilingual Preferred (Springfield, NJ)
SUMMARY
Possesses an excellent understanding of quality engineering fundamentals and applies knowledge of company policies and procedures to assess and analyze product quality performance of wireless products. Able to work independently to research and determine root cause of electrical, mechanical, RF and software problems with fielded units. Provides timely professional details and summaries of findings.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years quality engineering fundamentals either by a formal four year technical degree (or higher, e.g., BSEE, BSME, MSEE, BSME) or by significant accumulated experience – ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or similar credential preferred
- 3+ years experience with wireless handset troubleshooting in design and/or repair
- Good working technical knowledge of how cellular phones interoperate with network infrastructure
- Proficient in MS Office applications. Strong grasp of Excel formulas, macros and spreadsheet interfaces. Ability to generate and interpret graphical reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to distill raw data into key trend and pareto reports
- Ability to clearly present data
- Japanese-English bilingual highly preferred
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating performance of wireless products
- Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications
- Provides recommended solutions to manufacturer/supplier issues such as improving yields and reducing costs
- Learns how to use test tools (software and hardware) and help other team members with it
- Helps brainstorm solutions to problems by interpreting analysis results
- Runs field tests to duplicate customer product issues
- Uses resourcefulness with carriers and retail sales channel to very rapidly obtain product performance feedback immediately after new product launches
- Performs quality inspections to ensure high quality of carrier lab submission units
- Provides useful feedback in reviewing process manuals, etc
- Performs other related activities as needed
