Fábio Castanheira Appointed New Sales Regional Manager for Kyocera Wireless Brazil

Miami and São Paulo - (September 28, 2004) - Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless handsets and telemetry modules, today announced that Fábio Castanheira, has been chosen as the new sales regional manager for its Brazil market. Mr. Castanheira brings with him the extensive experience in managerial positions at Nextel Telecomunicações - where he held the position of marketing executive director, and at Telesp Celular, where he was the strategic planning and budget control manager. In addition he has significant experience in the banking sector, where he began his career.

"Fábio Castanheira's solid experience with sales and marketing as well as his financial knowledge, business development and strategic planning skills will be a great asset to us in Brazil, which is a critical market for Kyocera Wireless," says Lee Ittner, the Executive Vice President for Global Sales at Kyocera.

Commenting on his belief that Kyocera Wireless is very well positioned to have strong growth in the Brazilian market, Mr. Castanheira also points out the company's important differential from the competitors: it is the only manufacturer of wireless devices that dedicates its efforts, investments and research exclusively to the CDMA technology.

"Acquiring Qualcomm's wireless division in 2000, the creator of the CDMA technology, Kyocera received this technology from the source. In addition, it continues to invest successfully in the design of the devices. This combination results in 'technologically advanced and amazingly simple devices' - the slogan of the advertising campaign that will be running soon," says Fábio, giving as example the next launches of the company in the country: Soho, a device designed by the same team that designs the BMW's cars and Koi, with a built-in camera (Yashica is part of the Kyocera Group), with a 1.2-megapixel resolution.

Three Kyocera Wireless models are currently available in the Brazilian market: the K112, the simplest; the Phantom, which most remarkable characteristic in terms of design is the fact of having colored exchangeable masks and the Slider, a Brew platform device with all functionalities of the "Vivo ao Vivo" and the only CDMA technology device that slides to open.

Fábio Castanheira started his professional career at Banco Real. He also worked at Credibanco and Diamond Cluster International, where he was responsible for consulting projects for the telecommunications sector, including marketing, sales, strategic planning and business development. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the FAAP - Fundação Álvares Penteado, São Paulo.
